An increasing interest in the subject of "ageing" sets the backdrop for this E-book, setting out to explore the ways that ageing is portrayed, not only through news outlets but via entertainment platforms and political and public discourses. The chapters in this text are formed mainly from revised versions of talks from the speakers and contributors of a conference held in April 2014 - "Portraying Ageing: Cultural Assumptions and Practical Implications". Open to the public, the conference brought together a diverse range of people to give examples of how ageing is (and isn't) portrayed in Britain today, and the implications and assumptions that accompany these representations. From topics such as the benefits, problems and financial implications of ageing, to the often talked about but misunderstood condition of Dementia, this E-book offers a varied discussion on the topic of "ageing" and all that it means to us in modern day Britain.
