Isabellas parents are traditional, conservative Cubans. They would never dream of letting their daughter speak privately with a man; they would be furious to know he had held her hand and once nearly kissed her. Isabella doesnt want to dishonor her parents. But something draws her to Richard Southard, something she cant resist. When he employs her has his bookkeeper, she has more opportunity to watch him, to speak with him, to get to know him better.
