This seminal work, Research and Ethics for the Medical Profession, shares a common thread among all its contributing authors, and that the medical and nursing profession are obligated to act compassionately, honestly, and with respect for the betterment of their patients. Doctors have a moral duty to act within the law of the land while recognizing that at times the legislature may lag behind the evolving, and at times urgent, needs of the profession.
