Annotation
Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. T has seemed to me worth while to offer to students of Shakespeare the translation of the pseudonym of one of Gabriel Harvey's favorite poets and I have therefore had printed these few pages, with the hope that they will be accepted as adding a bit of confirm atory evidence to Mr. Looney's theory that the writer of the poems and plays of Shakespeare was Edward de Vere, seventeenth Earl of Oxford. In extending my essay somewhat past the translation of that pseu donym, I have quoted freely from those authors who have written on Oxford and on Harvey and have attempted in the text to give full credit to them. When I have quoted something that has recently been given to the world, it has been in order to show some differ ent connection than the one in which that statement has been already used.
