Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. April, 1885. It is true, that the supposed rich deposit of gold was deposited there by human hands for speculative purposes; that the great mine in the new El Dorado was salted, but there was gold within so short a distance of the place where this piece of knavery was practiced, that it seems almost miraculous the mining district was not located at the time. Many an old prospector has examined the outcroppings, and one was even confident enough to run a tunnel into the hill directly under the spot where one of the richest deposits has since been located, but none succeeded in finding the gold.
