Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The majority of the photographs reproduced in this book were taken by Dr. Levick', who was the official photographer to the Northern Party. The author is much indebted to him' for permission to use these, and also for the poems from the Aurora Australis, and for his account of the blizzard of March 17 and 18, 1912, when the tent which sheltered his party was blown away. Other photographs are by the author, and by Mr. Debenha'm', to whom' also the author's gratitude is due.
