Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Among a number of early deeds and other papers te lating to Plymouth County, Massachusetts, long in the possession of the writer, is the original manuscript of the list of names appearing in the following pages. The list is headed by Major Samuel Thaxter, Sergeant Thomas Andrews and Cornet Samuel Lincoln, followed by others bearing the names of the first settlers of Hing ham in 1636 - 1639. The names are evidently in the handwriting of Joshua Tucker, one of the Selectmen, the warrant written by James Hawke; Town Clerk, they are printed as they appear in the manuscript.
