Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. BY reason of the development of the electric motor and steam turbine, the general trend of present day practice is to substitute rotary for reciprocating machinery, In fact, the time is not far distant when the centrifugal or turbine pump will entirely displace the reciprocating type of pump. In writing this book the author assumes that the reader has a knowledge of the elementary principles of hydraulics. The examples on the design of centrifugal pumps illustrate the method used by the author in fixing up the principal dimensions of this type of pump and may serve as a guide, to the young designer. It is hoped that this volume may prove useful to Engineers, Draughtsmen, and Students.
