Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. When I began the translation of this little book at the beginning of the year, I only thought of giving my readers the biography of a holy and apostolic Bishop, living in this nineteenth century, with whose reputation for sanctity and wisdom my Eastern wanderings had made me acquainted, even before the French publication of his Life.<br><br>Other and more pressing occupations made me lay aside the translation for some months, when I was induced to resume it for the following reasons.
