Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Thus it has happened to me twice over, when writing on two simply practical subjects, to be overtaken by surprise in suggestions setting me back on the last half of my book, and requiring amendments in it that amounted to a vir tual substitution of it by new matter.
