Does God have a grudge against us? Is God trying as it were, to get even with us? Is God's child-training a kind of parental revenge for childish wrong-doing? Oft-times we think so. But it is far from the truth. For they (our earthly' parents) verily for a few days child-trained us after their own pleasure, but He for our profit, that we might be partakers OF his holiness. (v. God's one supreme purpose in child-training us, is purification. He is seeking to purge from us all that mars the like ness Of Jesus Christ within us. It is His own holiness that He is seeking to perfect within us.
