Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. In presenting to the learned and intelligent public this new and short description of the Cathedral of Milan, I must declare, that I do not intend to vie with the works already existing of superior merit for the informations which they convey, and the clearness with which they are presented. My intention was only to make an extract from them, which, without neglecting the main objects worth notice, as well as the names of the most eminent artists, should be exempt from all those digressions and explanations, which are required merely by men of science, or skilled in the fine arts. At the same time I took care to have it comprised in a pamphlet of small cost, to be offered to the attentive admirer of the beautiful, who comes to visit such a splendid and unrivalled edifice.
