Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The Dist distance meter, which we have received for test and report, is illustrated in the accompanying photograph. Shaped like a small telescope it is held to the eye and focussed, by rotating a ring, upon the object to be photographed, whereupon the marking on a scale shows at once the exact distance of the object from the observer. In an instrument of this kind it is essential _that good illumination be obtained in situations where the light is none too good, for it is in such places that large aperture lenses are used. We were pleased to find that the front lens is an anastigmat with an effective aperture of about f/2 giving an excellent definition as well as brilliant illumination over the field of View.
