Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. It will thus be seen that the two most important improvements in the development of the modern Piano, from its early inadequacy to its present completeness and beauty, both emanated from the American house of chickering sons, and may be justly termed the Chickering System.
