Annotation
Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. If the following bibliography should enable any reader to study the progress of foreign colonisation it will have answered its purpose. We have something to learn from foreign nations. We owe to Germany great additions to our knowledge of the African fauna and flora, the ethnology, archaeology, and diseases of Africa and the South Pacific. Every encouragement has been given in German colonies to the scientific application of agriculture, the study of tropical products and agricultural experiments upon broad and practical lines, the study of practical hygiene, and the study of native languages. From this point of view German methods are worth our attention, particularly because during recent years corresponding advances have been made in our own colonies.
