As a normative science dealing with the morality of human acts, Moral Theology is constantly confronted with new problems brought up by the progress of civilization. New discoveries, new philosophies, new beliefs, new political and economic conditions and theories, all have their moral and theological aspects. It is, therefore, the function of Moral Theology to ap ply to every new phase of human activity, which has a moral bearing, the already established principles of morality, and to set forth such rules of conduct as may be applicable to this new phase in practical life.
