Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The following facts, therefore, have been collected and are presented from the point of view of pharmacology, in the belief' that students of chemistry, pharmacy, biology, and medicine should become more familiar with this branch of the subject. The writer is also of the Opinion that in the teaching of pharma oology, the chemical side should receive much more attention than it does at present. In this way the student will have an Opportunity to review and add to his previous work in chemistry, and enter the clinical years better equipped and with a fuller appreciation of the most promising avenue of advance.
