The Encyclopedia of African History contains around 1,000 entries covering the widest practicable range of topics in African history. It covers the whole continent of Africa - not just sub-Saharan - from earliest times to the present. The selection of entries includes not only well-established topics, but also looks at the social, economic, linguistic, anthropological and political subjects that are currently being re-evaluated or newly opened up for historical analysis by recent research and publication.
